A rubric is a great tool that is used for assessing a complex performance. Over the past few years technology-based tools for rubric creation have become available. There are two types of rubrics that are available online: rubric banks and rubric generation tools. "Online rubric banks offer already created rubrics for a wide array of learning tasks. One impediment to using rubrics is that tasks of creating a high-quality rubric in not trivial in any circumstances and even less so when one is creating a rubric for a complex learning task." (Jonassesn, Pg. 227) These types of rubrics help eliminate such a time consuming process, although the teacher most verify the rubric to make sure it is precise. A rubric generator helps the user generate their own rubric. As a user, you can customize the rubric to your liking and it eliminates some of the concerns with the rubric bank. I would use a rubric in my classroom when I would assess a homework assignment, project, or any other task that would need a detailed evaluation. This helps the parent and student understand the teachers grading system.
Clicker assessment tools are being used in classrooms from elementary through college level classes. A clicker looks like a television remote control with several buttons on it. These buttons have numbers or letters on them. "You use them with your class by distributing them to your students to allow them to respond to questions not by raising their hands but by selecting buttons , and the results can appear on a screen in the front of the class." (Jonassen, pg. 232) Ways I would use the clicker assessment tool in my class would be for a quick pop quiz, immediate feedback on a topic, predict an outcome of a story, or even for a true/false question.
Inspiration is a very neat tool that can be used for visual mapping, outlining, writing, and making presentations. It's main purpose is for visual thinking. " These tools enable learners to identify the important ideas or concepts in a knowledge domain and interrelate those ideas in multidimensional networks of concepts by labeling the relationships between those ideas." (Jonassen, pg. 63) I would use this tool in my classroom to outline stories we were reading so my students could visually see how the story goes. If we were reading a challenging story this could help them understand the main objectives.

Web 2.0
In today's classrooms you might hear the words Wiki or Blog, but what exactly does that mean? "A central difference between a wiki and a weblog (or blog) is that wikis were designed as a collaborative environment, whereas blogs were originally intended as personal diaries or journals for individuals to post their own thoughts and ideas." (Jonassen, Howland, Marra, Crismond pg. 112) So how could you use a Wiki in your classroom? One way you could use a Wiki as a class would be to collaboritley write a story allowing each student to write their own part of the story. As the teacher you are able to go in and edit their stories and suggest any changes you might be able to think of. Everyone would be able to view the work in progress and make changes according. I think it is a great way to prove that two or three brains are better then one.
Social Bookmarking is another useful tool for today's technology savvy teacher. How would you use a social book mark? It is very easy; first you create a social bookmarking website at del.icio.us and locate, classify, rank, and even share Internet resources. You can label each link by math, science, etc. It is a great way to network with other teachers and you are able to view any sites they might find useful as well. It also helps you organize any search you might have or need to have. I believe social bookmarking could be useful in the classroom because it allows the students access to any link you might find useful for their assignments. Voice Thread is something I'm not sure I would use in my classroom. It seemed a little to confusing and a little over advanced for students EC-6th grade.
This week’s activities were very interesting to me. I learned a lot more about what a Wiki was and how it could be used in the classroom. I also learned about Social networking and Voice Thread. I can definitely see myself using all of this information to organize my links in the classroom.

Copy Right Blogging
You always hear the word copy right and fair use rules but what does that really mean and why is it so important. There are many exclusive rights that belong to a copyright owner. Some of those works include the right to make and distribute copies, to make derivative work, and to perform or display the work publicly. The authors are also entitled to the "moral right" on a article. There are several things that can have a copy right. Some of these include, artwork, music, even a website. It is important to respect these copyrights because morally we should not take credit for someone else's ideas. We as educators need to encourage children to discover and create their "own" ideas. It is ok to site others work as long as you use the proper documentation.
What is online safety and cyber bullying? These are two very important questions when you have kids at home or in the classroom that will be using the internet on a daily basis. Cyber Bullying is when the internet, cell phone or other devices are used to send, or post text messages that are intended to hurt or embarrass another individual. It is sad to say but it does occur today and if you take the proper measurements you can monitor this from occurring. Some online safety measurements are keeping computers in a central place, knowing when kids go online, talk to your students or kids about internet safety, inform them about stranger danger, protect passwords, and teach kids to communicate responsibly.
This weeks activities have been very informative and have opened my eyes to some new information. I was unaware of everything copy rights entail and really protect. "Copyright is a form of protection grounded in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works and authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright covers both published and unpublished works." http://www.copyright.gov/. As an educator and parent I believe it is very important to inform are kids about copy rights and online safety when using the computer.
